Adventures to see PENGUINS AND WHALES!!!
I know I have been completely MIA for the past who knows how long lol but at least I have a good reason!!! this past weekend I headed down south to Patagonia region of Argie to see some awesome wildlife. With 7 girls from school, we took the lovely bus to Puerto Madryn which is in the provincia of Chubut. Its about as far south (20 hours, blehhhk) as Bariloche is except on the Atlantic coast.
The first day we went on a whale watching and terrestrial excursion of la peninsula valdés. it was truly awesome!
we all got suited up in ponchos and life vests and went on a boat for like an hour and a half and got to see a ton of whales!
they were so close and soooo incredible. i got a little seasick towards the end of the ride (lucky me!) but it was really worth it. not going to like on the water it was pretty damn cold too, and you all know me and hte cold lol but i loved the whales. its weird how impressed we are with them. but really, these huuuge mammals in the water are really just incredible, i cant get over it!
Let me know if you want to see more pics of the whales from the boat, i have a ton and saome cool videos :D. After the whale watching adventure we ventured further out onto the península and went to this place where all these huge elefantes marinos were hanging out ( elefant seals!). these guys were so ugly haha
and made the worst noises and the beach was reaaally freaking COLD. like i dont know if ive ever been so cold lol but it was neat to see them. the view was awesome, we got to walk along the coast for awhile. the view was really serene and calm.
After freezing there we drove to a place that had a small group of penguinos. we were all so excited to see these stupid bird lol but it was so great. they are hilarious. it started to rain a little but the little birds so so funny and happy haha.On saturday we again got up bright and early to go down to Punta Tombo which is a few hours south of Puerto Madryn.
There is a huuuuge
colony of Magellan Penguins. It was awesome because you can walk right through the nature reserve with the penguinos! ! i think i took about 28562 pictures of these silly birds but i just couldnt get enough of them. at this time there were mostly the males gaurding the eggs while the females go out and get fat to feed the babies. the babies will be born in like end of december or january, que lastima that we didnt see them but man i loooved them lol. i think my
favorite part was when two penguinos started fighting (i have a video, dont worry lol).
After the penguins we went to this town called Gaiman which was a Welsh settlement. We went to a traditional welsh teahouse and had tea nad crumpets and all this delicious bread jam and little cakes!! it was quite delicious. One of the coolest things that happened was that we walked out on the pier in Puerto Madryn to see the awesome view and etc and a huuuuge whale came right up to the pier!!! so instead of whale watching we all ran after the whale as it swam like perfectly parallel to the pier- whale chasing haha. it was so amazing, i didnt have my camara because i had taken too many pictures of penguins and killed the battery lol but it was really neat to see a whale upclose!
The food was really awesome too, lots of seafood and fish and everyhting cheap and delicious in typical argentine style.

Alana that is so cool. I love the penquins. We saw them in Australia, but your experience is totally cool! I but it on nincompoopery - hope that was okay.
